Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first single was released on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 when she released five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to work alongside her on some of the songs. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been viewed over three million times over the first 7 days. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
